Gold Paint Colors
Since I started airbrushing Ive been testing some gold paints.
Ive been working on replicating Rustolems gold spray paint. You can check out my gold spray paint post. Rustolems gold is the ‘winner’ for the best gold spray paint for me.

I love these DecoArt metallics. They carry several metallic shades in this line. This paint is thick so I can see it working nicely on a rougher surface and has a nice pigmented color.
Martha Stewart’s gold is nice too but a very yellowish gold.
DecoArt offers two shades of gold, you can see one is very yellow and one is softer. The yellow gold is more like an Emperor gold. 24K Gold and Soft Gold are the names.
You can see how yellow gold the left jar below is. I find the soft gold not gold enough, to me its more of a champagne shade.

So of course I mixed them! LOL Mixing them gives a gold shade more like Rustoleums gold. The third jar is the mix.

Update: 5/2020
Krylons Brilliant Metallic Gold Leaf interior paint. I found this at Lowes. Its more of a vintage brassy type gold.
This picture below I added a gloss top coat. Its more of a satin type finish so I tested the gloss top coat.
Have you tried any of the DecoArt Metallics? Ive used the rose gold. You can check out my rose gold paint post and my rose gold paint and glitter deer post.

This doesn’t work on metal finishes does it?
Do you use the Deco Art Metallic paint in your airbrush or do you use something else? Can you do a video on airbrush painting? I love your blog.
Yes, I use some of their metallics. I will eventually do some more airbrush posts. And thank you. 🙂
